The Kashmir great lakes trek( KGL) offers you an experience of a life time ,of a wonderful journey filled with memories that are so wonderfully tiring  .
A formidable Himalayan trek which takes you through three high altitude passes (Nichnai pass, Gadsar pass and Zaj pass). The highest pass is Gadsar pass (13800 feet). Every day you encounter some steep climbs and some equally steep descents, five river valley crossings and seven most beautiful glacier fed alpine lakes, each an astonishing shade of green, blue, and turquoise, all within an impressive span of 6 days.

A journey of self-discovery : A lot has been said about the benefits of trekking on the body mind and the spirit . Here I would like to share my personal take aways. First and foremost the mountains provide us the much needed detox from digital devices, social media and a much needed break from the maddening and chaotic urban life.
As humans we are genetically wired for deep associations but in this modern world where acquaintances are fleeting, friendships fickle, trekking offers the opportunity to bond deeply with each other and this is one great advantage that we just cannot ignore
On a trek, without the distractions of our regular world and the negativity that surrounds us, the mind automatically starts to feel better and heals rapidly as the city mask that we wear peels off. We emerge as the true person that we really are.
In one week, we talk more intimately with our trek mates than we do with friends who are with us for years. Living together in tents, doing chores, tackling challenges and participating in a shared adventure only brings us closer. Our conversations too are more honest.
I am convinced that more than anything else trekking has the biggest impact on the spirit of a person which is the core of human nature.
A trek helps us to rediscover our relationships. We make strong friendships, we become better human beings. Out of these conversations appear a deep connection that we form with another human being. This connect stays intact and we make friendships that last for life.
To sum it up Trekking helps people to overcome their self-imposed boundaries. It makes us more resilient. The accomplishment of reaching the summit while overcoming physical mental and emotional difficulties makes us more tough and determined. Last but not the least it makes us better human beings.
